The Ottawa County Emergency Management Agency is responsible for activating and managing the Emergency Operations Center during a mass casualty/mass fatality event, if deemed appropriate. We are available to assist the on scene Incident Commander by locating elite resources at the local, state or federal level, coordinating special resources such as volunteers and private contractors and assisting the Incident Commander in confirming that all necessary steps are taken throughout treatment and transport. The EMA also has the capability of receiving phone calls from the media and general public during an emergency and disseminating relevant information through press releases, briefings and media interviews. The Emergency Management Agency currently owns three Medical Modules, which are available for use during a mass casualty event. The Medical Modules are enclosed two-wheeled trailers equipped with sufficient Basic Life Support (BLS) supplies for the triage and expedient emergency medical treatment of up to 50 victims. Also included is a Mass Casualty Incident Management Control System. Any Ottawa County Fire or EMS Department may request the modules through the Sheriff’s Dispatch.
